Pro cyclist Craig Lewis discusses his racing strategy and how he fuels for an event to stay on top of his game.
Nutrition Tips:
Have good breakfast with Oatmeal and Eggs.
Beginning of a Race: Start off with energy bars for the first couple of hours
Second half of the race: 3 to 5 Energy Gels ex. GU Energy – Power Gels – Honey Stinger Organic Enery Gels
Hydration: comsume at least 1-2o oz bottle of an electrolyte sports drink such as Cytomax or GenR8 Vitargo
After the race load up on carbs and at dinner consumer proteins and less carbs.
Make sure to allow for a couple of hours to digest your food before going to sleep so your heart is not
doing all the work.
